Pakistan PM’s ‘tweet’ on Dawood Ibrahim death is FAKE!

Amid reports of alleged poisoning of India’s most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, internet is abuzz with several developments from Pakistan. From internet blackout to glitch in social media, news related to India’s terror blacklist is doing the rounds with sensational claims and counter-claims.

A screenshot went viral after the news of Dawood’s alleged poisoning broke in the morning today. This showed an apparent message by none other than Anwar ul Haq Kakar, who is the caretaker PM of Pakistan. The viral message in the X (formerly Twitter) screenshot said, “The Messiah of humanity, dear to every Pakistani heart, our beloved His Excellency Dawood Ibrahim passed away due to poisoned by unknown. He breathed his last in a hospital in Karachi. May Allah grant him the highest position in Jannat. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”

The screenshot has been shared by several users on various social media platforms. However, an independent fact-checking site has said that this tweet is ‘fake’. Digital Forensics Research and Analytics Center or DFRAC took to X and said that the viral tweet attributed to the Pakistani PM is fake and does not match with his verified X handle.

DRFAC said that the fake tweet has the wrong spelling of the Pak PM’s name. The screenshot spells his surname as ‘Kakkar’, whereas the Pak PM spells his name as Anwar ul Haq Kakar. Also, the last post by Kakar was on December 16, as per the official X handle.
