The government’s direct tax collections, adjusted for refunds, stood at Rs 13.70 trillion till December 17 in the current fiscal year, which is 20.7% higher year-on-year, the finance ministry said in a release on Monday.
Collections from corporation tax stood at Rs 6.95 trillion, and that from personal income tax (PIT) – including securities transaction tax (STT) – stood at Rs 6.73 trillion. Refunds issued during the period stood at Rs 2.25 trillion.
Moreover, total advance tax collections during the period came in at Rs 6.25 trillion, recording a 19.9% growth on year. The advance tax collection comprised corporation tax mop up of Rs 4.82 trillion and PIT at Rs 1.43 trillion.
