Kolkata Metro’s Orange Line nears completion, services on Kavi Subhash–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay stretch to commence soon – Check stations, fare and more

Exciting news for Kolkata residents! Kolkata Metro gears up to operationalise the eagerly awaited Kavi Subhash–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay stretch of the Orange Line. The Metro Railway is currently undergoing trial runs on the section, ensuring that the machinery and staff are prepared for the upcoming commissioning.

According to multiple media reports, this new line is expected to be opened to the general public by January 2024.

The Kavi Subhash–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay stretch has obtained the required approval from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS).

Kolkata Metro Orange Line’s list of stations

The Kavi Subhash–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay stretch, encompassing three stations, namely Satyajit Ray (Hiland Park Area), Jyotirindra Nandi (Metro Cash & Carry and Ajoy Nagar Area), and Kavi Sukanta (Abhishikta Crossing Area).

Kolkata Metro Orange Line’s fare structure

To enhance passenger convenience, the authorities have introduced a single-ticket system from Blue Line to Orange Line, ensuring a seamless journey across the network. The fare structure for this new route ranges from Rs 20 as the minimum fare to Rs 45 as the maximum fare.
