The five-times champions and the current trophy holders, Chennai Super Kings have released eight players before this year’s IPL auction. The franchise has a remaining purse of Rs 31.4 crore for this year’s auction. With another season under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, CSK will look for a good replacement for Ben Stokes.
Despite having an arsenal of Deepak Chahar, Mukesh Chowdhary and Rajvardhan Hangargkar, the team will eye for another quick bowler. With Ambati Rayudu’s retirement, there is a slot in the middle order too.
Making the equation, CSK can go after Pat Cummins, who may even take a captaincy role in the next season if MSD decides to hang his boots. Also, Harshal Patel can be a good option, considering his death bowling potential. As a replacement for Rayudu, Shahrukh Khan can fill his shoes for the Men in Yellow.
Other than Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc can also be on the charts for CSK. While Moeen Ali and Maheesh Pathirana are injured, someone from the domestic circuit can also be a potential buy for the team.
