Gujarat leads with 20% ad share volume on radio followed by Maharashtra reveals TAM report

Ad volumes from July to September 2023 witnessed a six percent growth compared to January to March 2023. Ad Volumes during April to June 2023 and July to September 2023 have witnessed a growth of four percent and six percent respectively compared to January to March 2023 while July to September observed growth in ad volumes by seven percent on radio advertising compared to July to September 2022.

Services was the leading sector in radio advertising with a 34% share of ad volumes in July to September 2023. Moreover, the top 10 sectors collectively added 89% share of ad volumes from July to September 2023. Education Sector descended to sixth position with a six percent share of ad volumes compared to the second position from April to June 2023.

The top 10 brands from April to June 2023 and July to September 2023 contributed a 10% share of ad volumes respectively. More than 2900 exclusive advertisers were present from July to September 2023 compared to April to June 2023. Union Bank of India, Patanjali Ayurved and Tata Motors entered the top 10 list of advertisers from July to September 2023.

The Computer Printers category witnessed the highest growth percentage among the top 10, approximately 180 times from July to September 2023. Magics Hair Care was an exclusive brand that entered the top 10 brand list and secured the seventh position from July to September 2023 over April to June 2023. More than 3000 exclusive brands were present in Radio Advertising from July to September 2023.

Gujarat was the leading state with a 20% share of ad volumes on radio followed by Maharashtra with a 17% share. Jaipur retained its first position from July to September 2023 compared to April to June 2023. Furthermore, the top five states together contributed a 67% share of ad volumes from July to September 2023.

Evening was the most preferred time band on the radio followed by Morning and Afternoon time bands while ad commercials with 20 to 40 seconds were the most preferred for advertising on radio during both the periods July to September 2023 and July to September 2022.
