Parliament Winter Session Day 12 Highlights: The Winter Session, which began on December 4, has been marred with sloganeering and protests by the Opposition MPs, who have been demanding a thorough probe into the security breach, which took place on December 13 in the Lok Sabha chamber, and a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah on the issue.
As the logjam continued, the government wielded the axe for the second day in a row as 49 more Opposition MPs were suspended from the Lok Sabha. Till Monday, 92 Opposition memberswere suspended – the highest during a single session – including Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Jairam Ramesh, and Derek O’Brien, from both Houses for holding placards and raising slogans over the December 13 Lok Sabha security breach.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is among the 92 Opposition MPs suspended from Parliament.
While talking to the media after the bulk suspension, Chowdhury said that the government “does not want to run Parliament” and does not have an “iota of interest in the parliamentary system”.
“In a way, I am happy. I was feeling bad that many of my colleagues were suspended and that I was sitting inside. But on a serious note, (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi is heading towards striking a century in terms of suspensions of Opposition MPs. It will be a new record,” he said.

At least 46 MPs have been suspended from the Lower House and an equal number of Opposition MPs have been suspended from the Upper House as well.
