Officials on Friday reported that a 19-year-old student, who recently arrived in Rajasthan from Australia, has been detected positive for COVID-19, a PTI report said. The decision to undergo testing was prompted by the student experiencing mild symptoms like a cold, cough, and sneezing. The positive test result was received on Friday. As a precautionary measure, the student has been placed in quarantine at her residence. Additionally, medical teams have gathered samples from the 10 family members who had close contact with her for further testing, according to the officials.

Official sources have revealed detection of 22 cases of the COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 in the country as of Thursday, with 21 cases identified in Goa and one in Kerala, reported PTI. According to the sources, Goa has not witnessed any clustering of JN.1 variant cases, and all infected individuals have successfully recovered without complications. The infected individuals experienced mild upper respiratory tract infections, characterized by symptoms such as a mild dry cough, sore throat, with or without fever. Notably, there were no severe complications reported.

In the past 24 hours, Kerala registered 265 new COVID-19 cases and recorded one fatality attributed to the disease, as per the Union Health Ministry’s data released on Friday. Among the 328 reported coronavirus cases across the nation until 8 am today, 265 were accounted for in Kerala, elevating the state’s active case count to 2,606, as indicated on the website.
The latest death in the state brings Kerala’s total COVID-19 fatalities over the three-year period since the outbreak to 72,060. Additionally, within the same 24-hour span, 275 individuals recovered or were discharged post-infection, contributing to a cumulative count of 68,37,689 recoveries, discharges, or migrations recorded to date.

A Noida resident has tested positive for Covid, in a first case of the infection in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar after several months, officials said.
The patient is a 54-year-old male who lives in Noida but works at a multinational company in Gurugram, Gautam Buddh Nagar Chief Medical Officer Dr Sunil Sharma said on Thursday.
“His test sample has been sent to Delhi for genome sequencing. The result is awaited,” Sharma said.
District Surveillance Officer and public healthcare expert Dr Amit Kumar said the patient travelled to Nepal earlier this month and also went to work at his Gurugram office after returning.
“The patient is asymptomatic and went for the COVID-19 test on his own,” Kumar said, adding that this is the only confirmed case in Gautam Buddh Nagar so far. (PTI)
